This is a beta, binary version of the MySQLGUI client, version 1.7
for Windows.

This is a fourth release of 1.+ MySQLGUI  versions for Windoze. It is
practically free  from  bugs, that we know off. This version is identical to
X version, but it also fixes some previous Windows-related bugs.

You should read readme.version_1.7, because it describes both X and Win32
releases of the mysqlgui version 1.7. The only difference is in handling of
the editing, i.e. of horizontall scrolling of cell's data. Namely, due to
the present bug in Flvw widgets (made by Larry Charlton
<lcharlto@mail.coin.missouri.edu>), automatic editing is not available under
Windoze. So, under Unix, horizontall scrolling is switched on by either
clicking with a left mouse button on the cell, or pressing CTRL+'E' key,
while under Windoze, for the moment, only pressing CTRL+'E' works. This
little inconvinience will be fixed in the next sub-release.


Beside that,Windows version is identical to X version, except for the rules
regarding writing necessary entries in my.cnf. Namely, unlike *nix, Windoze
has drives, So, all backslashes after drive: should be escaped, like this:
d:\\mysql\\options_file. There is an example of a thorough and functioning
my.cnf file included with this release of MySQLGUI.

This is first Windows release that is 100 % built with gcc 2.95.2. This
compiler proved to be of excellent value, as it produces highly optimised
and bug - free code on Win32. This makes it a first 100 % ANSI 1997 C++
compiler available for Win32, and is highly recommended to all C and C++
programmers, working on this platform.

Unlike previous Win32 versions of mysqlgui, this one, thanks to gcc 2.95.2,
is fully optimised and should provide same efficiency as available on Unix.

It took us long time to build this Windows variant of 1.7, as we had huge
problems with stability of NT 4.0, aggravated with a dying hard disk, that
has hosted VMWare's virtual disk. 

But we wanted to release this version prior to going into hard disk changes,
reinstallations etc ..
